Pigment Skill Share: A Free Workshop with Lisse Williams
Join Lisse Williams on Wednesday, September 25 from 5-7pm for a brief skill share delving into the world of pigment mixing, using hide
glue binding methods that have been used for centuries.
You may ask yourself, what is a binder? Why is it important? Why on earth would I want to mix
my own pigment? Isn’t this messy? Will it really work, and will it last?
We will be answering all of these questions, which may lead you to even more questions, even better! The act of this class is to invite you to explore a medium, its attributes, and question
methods for making. Let us start with one answer, yes it may be messy, so bring your apron, and we will explore together. Our goal is to create passion for materials, passion for exploring, and perhaps an eye opener on ways of creating in ways that are both historic and
contemporary.
The knowledge put together in this info share was made possible with the help of a generous A2 Arts American Rescue Plan Act Grant, allowing for the pursuit of a project that is both focused on sustainability, and connecting individuals to their history.
Lisse Williams is a painter in Ann Arbor, whose works glean from her grandmother's Japanese background, and her desire to create works that are soft on the earth.
