Children’s Activity Area

We have a BUNCH of fun hands-on activities for children at this year’s event including:

  1. Join the Ann Arbor Hands-on Museum staff from 10am-5pm on Saturday, and 10-4pm on Sunday to learn the chemistry behind invisible ink, as well as other creative tricks to make your hidden art come to life!
  2. Additionally, the University of Michigan’s Museum of Natural History to go on a sweet journey to discover how sugar and the senses affect our brains. Get your own copy of the interactive science comic Sugar Buzz, do sweet tasting experiments, and get artistically involved in a sweet card game. Experience and understand the science behind food choices, why we crave sweet treats, and how to look for healthier options. Sponsored in part by the National Science Foundation and Monica Dus, Associate Professor of Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology at U-M.
  3. Join artists, Gary Horton and Irene Mokra to help paint a mural on the back of the Gutman Gallery located at 118 N. Fourth Ave., Ann Arbor MI 48104 in the heart of this year’s A2 Artoberfest! The back of the building faces the Ann Arbor Hands-on Museum near where the above two activities will take place. This activity supported by Destination Ann Arbor.
